Serita A. Jakes is an author, speaker and visionary. She serves alongside her husband, Bishop T. D. Jakes of the legendary 30,000-member Dallas-based church, The Potter’s House.
Mrs. Jakes serves as executive director of women’s affairs at The Potter’s House and the visionary of Distinctively Her, a division of the TDJ Foundation. Distinctively Her houses the nationally acclaimed Distinctively Debutante Program, a mentoring program for academically astute girls, ages 10-17 among other empowering programs geared towards women. She was the catalyst in making The Potter’s House the first church in the world to have a Best Buddies Chapter, a program for adults and children with intellectual disabilities. The program has evolved into Capable Minds, Hearts and Hands, The Potter’s House IDD Outreach, which provides support groups for adults and children with IDD, their parents and siblings among other things.
